When we started in 2014, we really focused on our special regional delicacy: Lake Erie Yellow Perch, with our secret beer batter recipe, fried in peanut oil, and served with our homemade tartar sauce. As time went on, we expanded to include more seafood, including delicious and decadent lobster rolls and lump crab rolls, not to mention our American comfort food offerings and our labor intensive but delicious double-fried fresh cut fries.
I (Russ Courtney, owner) was a writer, a lawyer, and a market research professional before I started Rusty's Road Trip in 2014. A little bit before I turned 30, I had the itch to start my own company, and thought about how exciting and satisfying my work in the cafeterias at was while a student at Ohio State. Plus, I wanted to bring my special tartar sauce and Lake Erie Yellow Perch recipes to the people of the Toledo area. We are now in our 10th season, which is mind-blowing to me! I have a wife and two kids now, and an amazing community that supports me. I'm so grateful!
